Do you want to learn to ride safely in a group?
Do you want to learn some techniques to ride smoother and easier?
Do you want to meet some like-minded friendly people?
These are just a few of the reasons why you might want to come try out MIVA’s Tuesday night development ride. We recommend that all road riders new to the club start with a Tuesday ride in order to get comfortable with group riding.
This weekly group ride is offered in 3 different groups = 3 different speeds. This means there is a group just right for most people. C and B groups will be no-drop. These rides are lead by at least one experienced MIVA rider who is there to guide you and help you feel comfortable in the group as well as push you a bit when you may need it.
This ride is 100% on the road so please bring an appropriate bike. A purpose designed road bike with drop handle bars is ideal, but a hybrid with smooth tires would be ok too. Most riders would struggle to keep up on a mountain bike with knobbly tires.
If you are a new rider considering coming out to give us a try, you should be able to maintain a solo riding speed of 20 km/h for an hour over moderately hilly terrain (ie travel 20 km of distance in 1 hour).
The ride requires MIVA membership
(Or you can try two MIVA events as long as you sign a waiver first. Please print the waiver and bring along with you, or fill it out and email to miva.board@gmail.com)
Come ride with us!
Here’s an example of a typical route. We may cut this short or extend based on group abilities, or just to change things up!
