CanBiCuba Cycling Club, Fall Winter & Spring 2015

June is coming to an end. It is now time to firm up any Cuba Cycling spots you may have in mind
“Ciclo Temba” November 29th / December 13th. There are a number of riders coming via Havana to join this trip and will travel with the crew bus to Holguin and meet up with the others. It is up to you, this is a good way to take in both Havana and the great ride around the east. At this time the ride is full and we are seeking more rooms. If interested please contact me peter@canbicuba.com

Our one week ride out of Santa Clara "Tropical Roads" is slowly picking up riders. Please register, we need your info for the room, jersey and bike if you need. Date for this one is November 8th / 15th.

The "Celia Sanchez" ride, that was to have been a ladies only ride has changed to an open event. Seems the girls want to bring the guys along. Who are we to argue?  The ride is very close to the "Ciclo Temba" route. Dates are January 24th / February 7th.
The date for "Trans Cuba" is set to finish one week before Easter. March 15th / 29th. Again early registration if you can, it really helps with the admin. side of things and this ride is difficult to set up.
"Fat Mary 2015" is now posted and will run March 15th. through 29th. This is our most popular two week ride. There will be a "Hub & Spoke" from a Hotel in or close to Havana and it will start the second Saturday of April. I will have more details after my visit to Canada next week.
We have a number of private groups and are at full capacity with staff up until early March. Should you wish us to do a group ride for your club or charity, we do need time to plan, so contact us with your ideas as soon as you have them. Be it a hike or a bike tour we can help you.

CITY OF NANAIMO TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN

The adoption of the Nanaimo Transportation Master Plan is being discussed in Council tomorrow evening . The regular council meeting opens at 7 pm in the Shaw Auditorium of the Nanaimo Conference Centre. The Master Plan adoption is item #9 on a fast-moving agenda. One of the submissions to the Council will be by GNCC Chair and MIVA Board member Leo Boon. It is vital that we fill the Shaw Centre with as many cyclists as possible as a number of the councillors, including mayor John Ruttan, only pay lip service to cyclists and pedestrians and are hell-bent on the Master Plan being automobile focused.Let's show our politicians, by packing the place, that they are there to serve the voters, not to dictate to them. See you there. Club jackets are encouraged.

With shorter rides than last year, we have time to take in the beauty of this wonderful island. We visit historic cities of Santa Clara, Cienfuegos, Trinidad & Remedios. We also visit the city of bicycles, Moron. In Moron there will be a party BBQ with the locals and the following day some will ride with us to Remedios.

Not a race ! We have room for just 12 riders so book your spot.
