2015 Nanaimo Bike Information Night

This is an important event that I feel we all play a part in, please make every effort to attend, thanks!-Corey

We would like to invite you to the 2015 Nanaimo Bike Information Nightwhich is being held at Bowen Park Complex on Thursday January 22nd 2015 from 7 to 9pm. The evening will include updates by the city and other organizations on the extension of the E&N trail, a new Bicycle Map,  the Bicycling Master plan,  and other bicycling topics & issues. We hope to generate a wide interest and to get feedback and lots of questions.
We are inviting City of Nanaimo Mayor & Council and senior staff to be present, to hear any concerns, ideas and updates and we want to see as many people as possible, cyclist and non-cyclists. This is the night to speak on the topic of bicycling and how we can improve, expand and excel at creating a safe, enjoyable community for all.

We are looking at several bike stores showcasing some of the new for 2015 merchandise, and we asked for presentations by the various bicycling groups and organizations in the city and the district of Nanaimo.  Poster is attached and also available at this link: www.bikesense.org/bin/

Sincerely

Gord Foy, Engineering Department, City of Nanaimo,
Andre Sullivan, Chair Nanaimo Regional Rail Trail Partnership,
Leo Boon, Chair Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition

NEW HIGH END HOME TRAINER

IMG_9752

If you are like me, you often use a home trainer to get some riding in when the weather or the temperature makes it better to stay home. Over the years, i have used a number of low end devices to put in an hour or so of hurt, as well as a couple of more full featured (and expensive) ones like the Tacx Genius and the Computrainer, plus viewing Sufferfest videos while I pedal on my own Turbo Spinner.

Now, a new torture machine has come to my attention, the BKool trainer from Europe. This has most of the high end features, like virtual reality rides, with resistance changing as the terrain goes up or down, wattage, speed, calory  display and wireless interface with your Ipad, tablet or laptop.  Go here for an introductory offer and here for a great review.
