Re. the contest for the new club name (see previous posts): a couple of suggestions are: Vancouver Island Velo Association VIVA, and Mid Island Velo Association MIVA. When submitting your own entries, remember, the name should reflect the fact that the club will not be Nanaimo-specific. It should also produce a good acronym that is instantly recognisable and which looks great on the clothing. Keep those entries coming in!

PACIFIC CYCLING CENTRE TRAINING CAMP If you are interested in improving your cycling performance to the point where you are moving towards provincial or national level, the Pacific Cycling Centre puts on a number of training camps to help you to achieve your goals. NEW CLUB NAME AND CLOTHING DESIGN CONTESTS As many of you are aware, there are presently two contests underway to select name and jersey design for our new club. Bear in mind that the club needs to attract membership from all of Vancouver Island, so the name should indicate this. When submitting designs for the uniform, consider the colours of nater, the varying blues and greys of the sea and sky and the greens, browns yellows and oranges of the trees and mountains. To help you with the jersey and shorts designs, here and here are templates.
All submissions must be recieved by December 31st. of this year. The prize for the winning name will be a one year membership in the new club, including Cycling BC membership and the prize for the winning clothing design will be a free jersey and shorts in the new club colours.
