MIVA AT TSOLUM RIVER ROAD RACE

A group of MIVA members rode the Tsolum River Road Race on Sunday. Rob Bau,

Iain Hay, Kyle Waring and Rob Russell were in the A race. Kyle crashed but got up and finished the event, albeit with a few flesh wounds. Brodie Hay rode in the C event, his first experience in a road race. Great to see the club represented so well!

MIVA CLUB RIDES

Went out on Sunday to Parksville. Started off from Country Club Mall with 2 tri guys and after they turned at Nanoose, continued solo. While on the ride saw at least twenty riders at different times in spandex riding great bikes - all in ones and twos. I'm sure none of these riders knew anything about MIVA or had even heard of the club.

There must be cycling clubs in many places who have difficulty getting fit, enthusiastic riders to join.  We need to develop a really good publicity programme to attract some of these riders. All suggestions will be welcome.

MIVA THURSDAY TIME TRIAL (2)

Although the rain persisted for most of the afternoon, by 6pm, it had abated somewhat. Eventually, 9 riders and 3 volunteers showed up at the start. Warren Muir (OBB), who was very active in Tuesday's Boxwood criterium, won in a very respectable 30' 37" with MIVA riders Shawn Boyd and Ian Smith 31" and 47" behind. In 4th. place was Everti's Robin Dutton, who had taken time off from his new Cowichan Cycles business in Duncan. Charles Hamer in 5th. place, added 7 points to his season total and moved into first position overall in the series competition. In the women's category, Janna Gillick, HCTC, posted 34'35", , her 12 points giving her a commanding 21 point lead in the series contest.

Thanks to our volunteers, Kyle Waring, Cheryl Morch and Colleen Wtorek.
