MIVA RIDERS AT DOUBLE CROSS WEEKEND

Mid Island Velo Association was very well represented at the Beban Park and Bowen Park events this weekend, It was great to see our members in their prominent club jerseys and shorts mixing it up in both races and to see Rob Russell get a well-deserved third place in Sunday's intermediate event. The riders' presence and the volunteer efforts to prepare Saturday's Beban Park course have ensured that MIVA is now regarded as an integral part of the Island cycling scene.

CROSS ON THE ROCK ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

The Cross on the Rock Mid-Island Championship, organised by MIVA on Saturday, went off very successfully. Despite having to make some major course changes, due to an unscheduled dog show, everything was ready for pre-riding by 9am. Our great volunteers, aided by Normon's crew, went out of their way to ensure that there were no glitches. Many of the one hundred and thirty nine riders (third largest turnout for an Island CX race made  favourable comments on the course, especially the intestine with its gradient changes and its variety of wide and tight turns.

This was MIVA's first involvement organising a cyclo-cross event and the club members who volunteered their time can be proud of the outcome.

There will be a report on the race on the Cross on the Rock web site. For now, the results are here.
