MIVA MONDAY EVENING CLUB RIDES

Last week was really successful! More than a dozen riders came out on the ride from the Aquatic Centre which was led by Janna Gillick and Colleen Wtorek. Next Monday's ride starts at 6pm from Oak Bay Bikes. If you are not sure about group riding and are leery of rides that leave you grovelling in the gutter, then this is the ride for you. Be on time as the ride leaves promptly. By the way, like all MIVA activities, it goes rain or shine so if the weather is poor, bring along wet weather wear.

SECOND MIVA CLOTHING ORDER

The second club clothing order has been sent off to Kallistosport. Should be completed and sent in about four weeks. despite the constant pleas for prepaid orders, only one came in so the same quantity of jerseys, bib shorts and jackets were ordered as last time. remember, they were gone, gone  GONE in two days. Again, it will be first come, first served and no items will be reserved without payment. It's odd that in a club that now has fifty-four members(not bad for mid April, very few people order the clothing, knowing the high quality and great fit. members should be proud to wear the club colours and .... I won't get into that argument.

MIVA FIFTEEN KILOMETER TIME TRIAL 12/04/09

On a very wet windy, and cold, cold evening, four riders completed the club's first time trial of the 2012 series. Two were returning riders and two were new to our events. The lone man, Ian Drown, did a creditable 29'03” in his first attempt at 15km. In the womens category, newcomer Katy Condon did a very good first 15km in just over 28 and a half minutes, having ridden out to the course beforehand.. Janna Gillick, starting last, overtook all the other starters and finally finished a great ride in 24 and three quarter minutes with Colleen Wtorek who was first off almost 5 minutes slower. It's heartening to see riders out on such an unpleasant evening and bodes well for the numbers later on in the season.
