The practical component of the NCCP Cycling Instructor course was held at Rutherford School on Sunday, Although most of the participants were from Campbell River and had a mountain biking background, the road side was represented by MIVA members Cheryl Morch and Peter McCaffery. After classroom sessions on sports ethics and course components, given by Conan Cooper, ably assisted by Cycling BC Youth programme coordinator Colin Campbell, the group moved out to the school field where they were put through a typical class to give them an on- hands idea of course set-up and procedure. After completing some on-line assignments the participants will be fully qualified as cycling instructors and will be able to conduct courses with school and community groups. Thanks to Cycling BC for providing funding.
