MIVA BOXWOOD CRITERIUM, MAY 29TH. 2012 30 Minutes plus 5 Laps
Weather cool and very wet
The organiser arrived at the Boxwood circuit at 6.20pm. It had been raining
most of the day and the heaviest was just starting. Knowing that there are always
a few diehards, he waited for a while and at around 6.30pm Aaron Foos arrived,
all ready to race. Soon afterwards, Ray Wagner rolled up at about the same time
as Iain Hay, the club cone man. After a short discussion, it was agreed to run a
shortened race (30' plus 5 laps and to try and keep the pack together for most of
the race and to regroup after each prime. This was for Brodie's benefit as he learns
much more when he's in a pace line than out on his own.
The first prime was taken by Iain Hay with the second and third primes gained by the
visitor from the North. Two laps from the chequered flag, Iain Hay tried one of his
signature solo, last ditch efforts but he was pulled back and then Ray Wagner broke
briefly but was also caught by the bunch. Still, he kept up his effort and as they came
around the final corner managed to create a small gap and hang on to the end with
Iain Hay and Aaron Foos finishing in the same time.
