As indicated on the MIVA schedule, there will be no criterium or time trial this week. Of course, those who are so inclined can ride up to Nanaimo River Road on Thursday evening and do their own time trial. The Cedar Wednesday training ride will go as usual, as will the Monday club ride, this week from the North Cedar Intermediate School on Gould Road.
In case you missed the update under the "events" section, the group ride on Monday night will start at North Cedar Intermediate School at 2215 Gould Rd W - http://goo.gl/maps/aElh Hopefully this will give us some flatter road to try some pacelines. Last week was a lot of fun!

Next Tuesday, July 17th. from 6pm on, SHAW cable is airing a half hour video of the Boxwood criterium from last Tuesday. The programme will repeat later that night and at the weekend. Then It will go onto You tube. This is a real coup for MIVA and will kick off our publicity for the Youth Development programme and our other activities.

MIVA 40KM I.T.T. Nanaimo River Road
July 11, 2012
A nearly perfect night. More traffic on the road than usual as school is out and lots of families head to the Nanaimo Lakes formed by widening of the river. Still , only eight riders showed, possibly because of the Gran Fondo Axel Merckx and the triathlon last weekend.
Don Gillmore did another good ride even though his second 20km was over a minute slower than his first. Janna just failed to beat her personal best for the distance by nine seconds and newcomer Jason Hare finished third in the mien’s category having ridden a number of ten, twenty-five and thirty mile time trial back in England some years ago.
Seven year old Ian Gillmore rode a very good twenty km on his mountain bike at just under twenty kph, accompanied and encouraged by sister Megan and mother Anita.
All members please note that there is no event next Thursday.
