The Christmas Ride Dec 20th

The ride will leave Maffeo Sutton Park at 4:45pm and will end around 6:30-7pm at White Sails for a social and appies. Wear your best costume and light up your bike because it is going to be FUN. A route will be posted a few days before hand for people to load up on their units in case they are late or we get temporarily separated. The contingency plan in case it is raining too much to ride is to just meet down at White Sails for a Christmas social at 6:30. We will make that call day-of and post here. Finally, the ride is open to everyone- member or non-member, so if you have friends that want to join in they are most welcome. The Christmas ride details are on the MIVA Discord #general.

Hot Cross Bunnies Volunteers Needed

On Sunday November 2 MIVA will host the Hot Cross Bunnies race at Beban park as part of the Cross on the Rock series.

Thank you so much to all that have signed up to help so far. We could still use some help for the manual timing shifts 10:30-1:00 and 1:00-3:30. No experience is necessary, all you need to do is call out or write down numbers.

Cross on the Rock is a local, grassroots cycling event, and half of the proceeds are donated to the host club. We would encourage all cycling community and MIVA members to consider supporting the event by volunteering or participating. It’s a fun day for the whole family no matter the weather, so come on out.

We will have swag and treats for our volunteers.

Updates for the Weekend of August 16 & 17

We have a few updates for this weekend’s schedule:

  • The Coal City gravel ride will meet at Coal City Cycles this week due to the wildfire risk.

  • Eric will be leading a green-gravel friendly 31km ride to Timberland Lake and Mindy’s Bridge

  • For the Sunday Road ride it may be advisable to ride out to Yellow Point and avoid Nanaimo River Road.

We will continue to monitor the wildfire and smoke situation, including the air quality forecasts, and if the risk becomes too high we will post any ride cancelations on the website and discord. We encourage all members who might be sensitive to heat or low air quality to exercise caution. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
