HILL CLIMB HISTORY

MIVA holds a number of hill climbs during the year and these short but intense time trials are

becoming increasingly popular with our membership and with other local riders.

The hill climb is perhaps the oldest form of cycling competition. One of the most famous is the Catford hill climb, held on Yorks Hill near London, England. This event has been held continuously since 1887! Here is a video of this year's event, with many of the top British riders competing. Note the gradients!

Perhaps MIVA should consider holding a hill climb on Calder Road next season - that one would rattle most people's fillings! We could also have a couple of massed start hill climbs too. What do readers think about this?

BTW, here is one cyclist's solution to climbing REALLY steep hills!
