MIVA 15KM TIME TRIAL 11/09/06

MIVA 15 KM TIME TRIAL Nanaimo River Road

September 6th. 2011

This evening's time trial was held in nearly perfect conditions. Temperature around 22 deg. C.,and no wind. As a result, four of the six participants posted personal bests for the distance on the Nanaimo River Road course and the lone lady rider did her best time this year.

Don Gillmore said at the start that he was not too well, and very tired from the weekend of track racing at the recently reopened Juan de Fuca velodrome in Victoria. Despite this, he was still able to produce a ride within half a minute of his course record. Significantly, second and third fastest were able to get within fifty seconds of Don so there should be a real battle for the honours next season.

Of note was Dave Kenny's sub twenty-seven minute ride. Before the race, he said that his goal was to beat thirty minutes! He must have been helped by the super-fast wheels he borrowed.

Thanks to John Hannon for marshalling at the turn and collecting signs afterwards and to Kit for registration..

There are only the two hill climbs left to decide the overall standings for the 2011 series. Both are on the Duomont / Wiegles 5km course. The first is next Thursday and the second, championship, event is

on the morning of October 8th. The start and finish are already marked for those who want to have a practice run or two.
