MIVA Board of Directors - Nominations

MIVA's AGM (short) and Awards Night/Draw Prize Extravaganza (longer, but awesome) is taking place on Friday November 13th at the Longwood upstairs. All MIVA members attending will have a ballot to fill in and submit that night. Those who cannot attend can do so via a proxy form with someone who is attending.

Until October 15th, 2015 nominations will be accepted via this anonymous google doc form http://goo.gl/forms/KfkuyDLAqF

After this date, all nominees will be contacted to confirm their wishes, and at that point an official ballot will be created. The MIVA board in 2016 will consist of 7 total: 1-President 1-Secretary 1-Treasurer 4-Directors

MIVA has come a long way and it is all due to our amazing membership who bring forth ideas, who attend and support our events, and who lend their time to spread our sport to the mid island region. Please don't hesitate to submit your nomination and be a part of a great group. Even if you can't commit full time to the board (yes, it is a lot of work I won't lie) there are many other ways you can contribute so let MIVA know if you're interested.

Thank you.

The Waverly Cyclocross Crit

2016 Waverly Crit-5 What a night of racing and a great way to warm up for the Cross on the Rock series.  Only in Cumberland can you race through a bar.  I'm pretty sure there were more spectators yelling and cheering than there were racers pushing themselves for glory.

2016 Waverly Crit-4

Building on last years successes the format this year was a longer lap and  for three categories running three shorter races with less racers on the course at one time.  This made it much easier to keep track of who was in the lead, as well as allowing the riders a chance to watch and cheer when not racing.  Another improvement this year was a ramp to take the edge off the side walks.  I'm not sure the exact number of flats this year but I'm certain it was much less than the 300 tires eaten last year.

2016 Waverly Crit-3

In the intermediate race MIVA was well represented with Big Ring Billy fighting hard for a first place finish after narrowly missing the hole shot on the first lap.  Mark and Gary also placed well just outside of the top ten.  Also out there in his first serious cross race was Mike McCarney honing his skills and keeping it rubber side down.

2016 Waverly Crit

In the expert race Matt Hornland looked to be set for an easy win until he succumbed to a flat tire.  From there on out it was a tight battle between Justin Mark and Parker Bloom.  Justin took the lead near the middle of the race after Parker stopped to adjust his bike after the barriers.  Parker managed to fight his way back up and past Justin for the win.

2016 Waverly Crit-8

Rounding out the top three was Nick Kupiak, riding in his grandpas onesie, legs fully recovered after almost beating Craig Richey (shep said) at last weeks opening cross race on the mainland.

2016 Waverly Crit-6

In the expert womens race Carey Mark also flatted but ran two and a half laps to finish the race securing second place.

2016 Waverly Crit-7

The Hockey player earned himself a one minute penalty in the dirt for hip checking

2016 Waverly Crit-2

It was great seeing everyone out there.  Thanks to everyone in Cumberland for putting on such a fantastic event.
