The 2nd Annual MIVA Gear Swap is scheduled for Saturday, February 24th. It will be located at the picnic shelter at Bowen Park (Millstream Pkwy and Wall St). The sale starts at 9AM goes until 11am. Entry is free. Rain or shine - we'll make use of the picnic shelter along with the MIVA tents.
The sale is intended to be an opportunity for MIVA members and other cycling enthusiasts in the community to sell gently used bikes and bike parts that are otherwise sitting unused in garages.
The sale is being run as a service to MIVA members. There is no charge for members to sell but non-members pay $20. We do ask that anyone wishing to sell email miva.gear@shaw.ca by Wednesday February 21st to reserve. Instructions will be provided to sellers via email prior to the sale.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with tear-down and clean-up (11AM). Anyone willing to help should email miva.gear@shaw.ca
This Sunday February 4th the Bastion Running Club is hosting the annual Cedar 12k as part of the Vancouver Island Runners Association race series. I've been asked by Jim to come ride and lead the runners on course. I'm hoping I can get at least one other person to come out and ride with me. The more the merrier
The plan would be to meet at country club 9am and ride south to school on Gould road, support the runners then ride back for coffee at starbucks.
It's likely going to be wet and raining so fenders are a plus.
If you're interested send me an email to palleus@hotmail.com
Cheers,
Happy New Year.
I hope everyone had a merry christmas and a happy new year season filled with good food, good company and shiny new bike parts under the tree.
Now it's time to start working on goals for next year, whether that be a certain distance per week, a provincial title or just a personal best on strava.

https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=123813 As in past years you still need to have a cycling BC membership. Since everyone signed up for a membership last year I'm sure you've all received the many emails they've sent advertising an early bird savings of 10% if you sign up before January 7th. https://cyclingbc.net/membership/registration/ Not sure which membership you need? The Provincial Ride License - is the basic membership and the minimum required for club group rides. If you're not planning on doing any racing this is the one to get. The Provincial Race License - Covers you for club rides, plus lets you participate in races across the province The UCI Race License - Is the one you want if you plan to travel and race See you on the Road when the ice melts, Cheers |
