2014 Time Trial Season - Recap

The 2014 TT Season wrapped up last week with a final 15k race, with a full Gillmore sweep of the categories! http://www.webscorer.com/race?raceid=27344

The overall points trophy will change hands this year, with Patrick Burnham's steady rise up the standings this season result in him taking the male overall points title, well done Patrick! The single speeder finished with 148 points, with Don Gillmore coming in 2nd at 144, and Iain Hay (who also sped up substantially this year) finishing with 107. Newcomer triathlete Orphee Bernard came in 4th putting in some very fast results, with Justin Mark rounding out the top 5 with 91 in only 9 races. 2014 Male Overall

In the youth categories, the Hare siblings retained their titles with both Aiden and Abigail having great seasons. Ian Gillmore had an outstanding season notching PB after PB and never losing a single race of the 13 he entered. Meghan Gillmore also raced in 11 races and managing 8 wins while increasingly speeding up. 2014 Youth Male Overall 2014 Youth Female Overall

In the Time Trial Champ series things were a lot tighter. The TT Champion is determined by a racers 5 best performances totaled up. Any ties are settled first by who had the most outright wins (12 points), and if a further tie break is necessary it is determined by head to head results.

In the male category Don Gillmore retained his trophy for the 4th consecutive season (could be more) topping out at 60 points, with Justin Mark (56) and Patrick Burnham (56) rounding out the podium.

The female title goes back to a familiar place with Janna Gillick regaining the trophy after a year away from the TT's in 2013. She came in this season and went 10/10 never losing. I'm sure she'll be sipping from the cup again at the MIVA round up party in November. Lorrie Baildham (60) and Anita Gillmore (54) rounded out the female podium.

The youth male TT champ changes hands this year to the very deserving Ian Gillmore. Both he and Aiden were tied with 60 points, but Ian managed to win 13/13 events to earn the title. The youth female trophy was a battle as well, with Meghan Gillmore and Abigail Hare going head to head with 60 points each. Meghan won 8 outright, and Abigail took 12 titles, earning her the title as Youth Female TT Champ for 2014. Male Female Youth Male Youth Female

--------------------------------------------------------- Special congratulations to those who came out and raced the most this season, with Abigail Hare racing an astounding 19 out of 20 time trials (only missing the final one due to going to Kelowna for the Axel Merckx camp). Her brother Aiden came out to 16 races, and Ian Gillmore came out to 13 races with his sister Meghan coming out for 11 races. The youth component's dedication is very impressive. Both Patrick and Mike Gill both came out to 16 TT's, with Jenn Gordon coming out to 16 as well. There were many of you who came out to over 10 TTs and formed the backbone of the MIVA TT's, while also hammering out some amazing times, thank you to Patrick, Don, Iain, Orphee, Jason, Matt, Mike, Reagan, Paul, Simon, Matthys, Kelvin, Glen, Janna, Jenn, Lorrie, Carole, and Sandy. The TT's have become a very social and supportive group and we hope to see this continue into next year.

--------------------------------------------------------- Congrats to all who came out, we had amazing numbers this season eclipsing 2013 by far. Thank you to the volunteers who came out to help time keep or be the turn marshall. Thank you to Peter for all the hard work coming out week after week for 20 weeks to set up the cones and signs, time keeping while getting bit by mosquitoes, and then take it all down again. Not only should the winners be proud of themselves, but everyone who kept coming out to do their best against their previous effort, that's what it's all about, pushing yourself and improving yourself. I encourage you to jot down your results and set some goals for the 2015 season.
