AUG.26TH.  OBB WHEELERS 40 KM  ITT, NANAIMO RIVER ROAD As a number of our regular riders are competing in the Ironman triathlon at the

weekend, tonight’s turnout was small.  Times were a little slower than usual as it

was windy at the start and got more blustery later. The temperature also dropped

several degrees.  Don Gillmore won handily with a time over three minutes

slower than his best this season, while Derek Brain increased his margin over 68

year old Dave Steen to over a minute. In the women’s event Cheryl Morch just

failed to catch her fellow triathlete Julie Langelo, beating her by 59 seconds.

Lone youth rider, 5 year old Ian Gillmore improved on his 5km time, posting 18’4”.

Thanks to Mike Woodward for holding and marshalling at the 20km mark and to

perennial helper Dave Kenny for looking after the 10/30km turn.

Next week is the Kilpatrick Road hill climb, starting at 6.30pm. Riders please park

at the top on Benson View Road or at the school on East Wellington. No cars at the
