2015 MIVA Membership and Race Pass

Membership

There's no time like NOW to get your 2015 membership forms in (attached).  This will have you covered for the spin sessions all winter, as well as get you into the draw for a FREE JERSEY.  All members who renew before Dec 31st, 2014 will go into the New Years Day draw for a free jersey.  So far there are 20 members renewed/signed on, so your odds are pretty good, get on it quick. Two ways to become a member: 1) old fashioned way: print attached 2015 MIVA Membership Form form, fill it out, write a cheque, and bring them both to a MIVA board member.

2) online:  I've made this dead easy now for you.  Go to this link with Webscorer (ONLINE MEMBERSHIP), fill it out, check the boxes required, submit your payment to MIVAs paypal, and its done.  No forms, no cheques, and we're eating the paypal and admin fees, so you just pay the $20 all in still.

Season Race Pass - $50

We've set the seasons pass price at a ridiculously low $50.  $50 to ride every event MIVA holds, we're talking 37 events here!  It was $80 last year, or $50/TT Series $50/Crit Series.  We are discounting it to encourage our members to come out and try the wide variety of events available to them, step out of your comfort zone and you might like it.  The schedule is still being finalized, but we will likely be holding roughly:

  • 14 Time Trials
  • 12 Crits
  • 5 Hill Climb Races
  • 6+ Cyclocross Clinics leading up to the Cross on the Rock series

The fee per event is a flat $5, everyone must be a MIVA member or have valid CyclingBC licence to race, no exceptions.  To sign up for the Seasons Pass, here is the link via Webscorer: http://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=34063

Why sign up now?  To commit!  You'll be able to roll up to any race all year and not have to carry cash, just show up, warm up, and ride.

CYCLISTS WANTED THIS WEDNESDAY

The CIty of Nanaimo is wanting to draw attention to some of the bike infrastructure they have created this year. The positive message is helpful in getting more support for bike infrastructure and with that getting more people to cycle in Nanaimo. That is good for the bike retailers, good for the economy, good for the overall health of our community.

The show and tell requires some cyclists and of course I am asking the SlowSPokes and other groups to be present on Wednesday the 26th at 9am. I was only asked late last week and the location was not determined yet. It is either at Bruce Avenue or at the north end at Hammond Bay. I would know by Monday and will send out the information.

Please let me know if you can attend by bicycle and ride from either location to the usual meetup at The Vault.
