"Flat" repair session - Monday 5:15 @ NIC parking lot

This is a reminder that Robin of Coal City Cycles will be leading another Flat repair session at 5:15 in the NIC parking lot. Our regular Developmental ride will follow at 6pm. Many of you are wanting to learn how to use your CO2 inflator quizmo and we are encouraging you to do so. Therefore Robin will bring some extra CO2 cartridges in case you need to purchase another one.

As usual, riders will line up at 7PM at Boxwood Road in Nanaimo. Sign-on is at 6:30PM at the entrance to Longwood Brewery. Nick Kupiak (Broad Street Cycles) is crushing it with James Sage (MIVA) hot on his heels. Last week's race saw Mike Sevcov (Cycle Therapy) starting to close the gap on John Lam (MIVA). Lee Zavarise (MIVA) has been steadily hanging in there and has now moved into fifth position. Neil Bryant (Cycle Therapy) has been using his explosive sprint to power himself into sixth position. Monday "Developmental" Ride tomorrow, 6pm @ NIC

We are looking forward to another fun and informative ride tomorrow. With so many people coming out each week we have been able to offer three different speed groups. All groups follow a NO Drop mandate and most often some technique is discussed and practiced. Hope to see lots of you out tomorrow!Next week we will have another "Change a flat" session starting at 5:15 with Robin from Coal City Cycles teaching us his tricks and tips.

15k TT#7 OF ROCK CITY CYCLES TT SERIES: RECAP & RESULTS

An early evening thunder storm rolled in around 5pm, however it left the TT course unscathed while northern Nanaimo was getting flooded. With 29 people signed up, 21 actually made it to the start line. Dave Steen reported high winds on the course tonight with a quick return trip after getting hit hard on the way out to the turn around. Janna Gillick took the honours again for her 5th win of the year, setting a new course record for the 15k by 0.6 of a second to finish in 23:08.6! Her previous record was 23:09.2 set on July 30th 2015. Lorrie Baildham took second in 25:27, with Tamara Zavarise in third place with a 28:37.

Paul Auton took the win in the male category with a 21:14 (42.4km/hr avg), followed by Sean Lunny (22:38) and Patrick Burnham (23:20). Matthys Redelinghuys set a new PB in 24:12 tonight as well, in his 10th run at this 15k course. Devon Norris, in his second attempt at the 15k knocked nearly two minutes off his time to PB as well in 25:44, and Fred Rockwell rode his best time of 2016 in 29:39.

Abigail Hare rode a 32:30, and next week will have competition back on the road as Meghan Gillmore will return. Ayden Houle narrowly missed a course record by just 3 seconds in 25:08, while Aiden Hare rode his best 15k of 2016 in 30:36.
